Piano Arrangement and Video Production

Out of love for the "Godfather" series of movies, I finally made up my mind to arrange the Godfather's soundtrack into a piano version. The most well-known theme song (The Godfather Waltz) has been arranged by many YouTubers, and I think in addition to the theme song, there are many good soundtracks that are also worthy of being arranged. I found that the soundtrack in the movie and the specially recorded version in the music album (The God Father Trilogy) are very different in atmosphere. In order to be faithful to the feeling of the original sound of the movie, I watched three movies, nine hours in total over and over again no less than ten times. In the end, I chose a few of the most important and classic melodies and condensed them into less than ten minutes. This is the first time I have written such a long piece.

Speaking of arrangement, after being numbed by the "same" anime music, I made several arrangements of Sheena Ringo, but eventually I paused my YouTuber career. I am busy with my studies at this time, and I also wanted to do something else to change my mood. One year later, I further expanded the scope of my selection, first removed the limitations within anime, and then removed the restrictions within JPOP. I think it’s time to bring something different, so I decided to record in Harmonic Studio, a newly built recording studio. To my surprise, a Mason Hamelin grand piano was newly moved into the studio. This is a very old piano that has been carefully refurbished. The slightly aging tone and wood-colored appearance fit the godfather's overall atmosphere. I immediately decided to use this piano instead of the commonly used Steinway.

Because of negligence in piano practice during this period, my skills have regressed quite a lot, but thanks to the powerful post-processing from the Harmony Studio, I am still quite satisfied with the final result. Since I watched the recent Chopin piano competition almost the whole time, my head was full of Chopin. I also mixed a lot of Chopin elements in this arrangement althought this was not my intention. I tried my best to conceal the Chopin component. I hope that the listeners will not realize Chopin as the first reaction, because I personally think that the style of Waltz and Chopin's walking a tightrope in harmony are not the same thing. I intended to be more like the "Merry-Go-Round of Life" that I arranged. That is the purest waltz style in my mind.

In addition, even if I didn't practice the piano, I still feel better at making arrangements. For the arrangement of a suite, how to smoothly connect the two songs without adding a lot of nonsense is a very difficult task. I think I did a very good job this time. Since some of the soundtracks in it are actually very similar in melody, but the atmosphere has changed a bit, it naturally forms some back and forth echoing effects, which makes me very satisfied.

Why I Wrote These

Before I gradually started planning to arrange the "Godfather" suite last month, I hadn't touched the piano for a long time, and I didn't even listen to any music. I learned a lot of programming and computer knowledge, and made my personal website. You all know that I am a lazy person, and I don't want to do extra things.
